When’s the last time you escaped from the stress of the city and found yourself in the wilderness?
Take a break in the fresh air of the BC backcountry on one of our rafting and camping tours. You’ll be sleeping under the stars in the wild and untamed Canadian Rockies, surrounded by six of the most stunning national parks in the country – Mount Revelstoke, Kootenay, Jasper, Banff, Glacier and Yoho. This is the perfect base for exploring the incredible hiking trails, lakes, waterfalls and heritage sites of the national parks. We offer FREE Rustic Riverside Camping for all of our rafters.
Our camping is for people who are used to camping, as there are no amenities (no water, no electricity, no wifi, no toilets (only simple outhouses). You will need to bring everything you need with you. It is indeed a gorgeous location and it’s absolutely free if you’re rafting with us on the Kicking Horse River.
Our campground isn’t recommended for anyone with a trailer or RV over 24 feet, or for families with young children. All campsites are right along the fast flowing Kicking Horse River.
- MAY – Early season camping, less crowded

- JULY – Hot summer fun on the river, you can never go wrong with July! Spectacular camping weather

- SEPTEMBER – Emerald coloured water, clear days. There’s fun whitewater still in the Lower Canyon. Cooler nights for camping – but it’s do-able!
The rustic riverside camping is located 25 kilometres east of Golden, along the Kicking Horse River. The site itself is approximately 25 acres and it’s a mix of forest and cleared areas. The camping is first come first serve, but there’s plenty of room for many groups. The camping is complimentary to all Alpine Rafters – we do not have rates for non-rafters. We will email you a detailed map, along with the campground rules & regulations after you have booked. You will still need to check-in at our office for your rafting trip, but can head straight to the campground when you get to Golden!
Simply mention FREE CAMPING in the notes during your rafting trip checkout and we will send you all of the necessary information for camping.
